LEAH SOER
HOLISTIC REPRODUCTIVE PRACTITIONER

ABOUT ME
My Story
Welcome! I'm Leah and I'm so excited to share with you all the wisdoms and healing modalities that I have been so blessed to receive in my life. But first, here's a little about me!
I am a mother, daughter, wife, nurse, friend, and now, a Holistic Reproductive Practitioner- a space holder, energy worker and healer. I was born and raised on Vancouver Island but have also spent time living in Vancouver, Toronto, and in Australia. I have an undergraduate degree in Anthropology as well as a diploma in Intercultural Education. In 2012 I completed my Nursing degree and have practiced as a Registered Nurse since then. For 5 years I worked in Labour & Delivery and I thrived on sharing the joy & excitement of birth with families, but also learned to journey with people through heart wrenching losses & grief. Since 2018 I have worked in the community doing home care nursing, palliative nursing, and case management. It continues to be a pleasure and privilege to work with families and communities during some of the most overwhelming times of birth, life and death.
I have also endured many seasons of birth & rebirth in my own life. In 2011 I married my best friend and, after a few years of travel & adventure, in 2016 I became pregnant, and was overjoyed. However, it was also a time when we were grappling with family illness and the work of palliating my mother-in-law. We had the privilege to care for her at home and to provide her with a beautiful & comfortable passing, and this was a blessing that brought healing & closure in itself.
The experience of caring for and being with a loved one during their death, while also feeling a child grow in my womb was profoundly beautiful, but also incredibly difficult.
The subsequent birth of our daughter (at the hospital where I then worked) was empowering, frightening, and overwhelming all at once. Going through pregnancy, birth and postpartum altered my perspective and priorities, but also solidified my desire to work with families in transition.
Mere months after my daughter's birth my own mother unexpectedly became ill and we found ourselves in the palliative caregiving role again. Through my sweet mama’s illness and passing, I faced some of the most uncomfortable feelings, tragic suffering, and big questions about life, my purpose, spirituality, and healing. And I also had the opportunity and privilege to re-explore a Reiki practice I had started in 2009 when I received my first attunement in Bali. Using Reiki and other healing modalities we brought my mom comfort & peace at a time when traditional Western medicine had not much to offer her.
This season of my life forced me to face all kinds of grief, sadness, anxiety & uncertainty head on. To avoid or hide from it, would have meant eventually drowning in it- and it was a risk I could not take with my own daughter now depending on me. Through compassion for myself, meditation, counselling, and learning to welcome, accept & fully experience all of the emotions as they arose, I have continued to show up for myself and my family, and to heal many parts of myself.
After the birth of my daughter, I craved a work-life balance that hospital shift work just could not provide. Even more so, I felt called to continue to support birthing people, but I yearned to do it in a fully present and holistic way, without having to focus on charting or constantly being on alert and assessing for anything that could go wrong! While I loved the excitement and joy of perinatal nursing, I knew that there must be another way to hold space for these experiences and support women & families in a fully present and healing way.
Enter By the Moon. I have recently combined my health & science background with a more holistic & spiritual approach when I became certified as a Holistic Reproductive Practitioner. This 2 year training combines Reiki, Reflexology and Doula Training, and has given me the direction, inspiration and opportunity to dive deeper into different healing modalities, the chakra system, birthwork, and self-exploration so that I may hold space for people on their reproductive journeys and support them in whatever healing they are called to do.

During the course of my program, I also gave birth to my son, at home and with the greatest sense of clarity, grounding and ease. I attributed his calm and transformative birth to my daily practices of meditation, gratitude journaling, yin yoga, as well as some of the deep womb healing, ancestral healing and chakra balancing work we do as HRPs.
My purpose is now clearly laid out in front of me, sparkling with opportunity, and I feel like I am truly living in alignment. Whether you need help understanding your cycle, support on your fertility journey, are looking for a birth or postpartum doula, or just need some extra healing for any transition in your life (or death), I am here to hold space for you, bear witness to your experience, and provide you with some healing energy & love (along with some practical info & tips too!).
If this calls to you, I welcome you to reach out to me. I would love to hold space for your experience and to explore how I can support you on your fertility, pregnancy, and any other healing journey.
With gratitude,
Leah
